Musical Advent Calendar: Day Nine
Since Amazon knows me so well, this year it recommended to me an album of ‘Essential Christmas Songs’. I’m not entirely convinced that the entire Nutcracker Suite is essential listening, personally, but there are some really fantastic choir performances of the carols we sang in church when I was growing up. These songs say ‘Christmas’ to me in a way I can’t really explain. They won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, I know, but I hope some of you will enjoy them.
Amor Artis Chamber Choir -- Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming
Atlanta Symphony Orchestra -- Adeste Fidelis
Oxford St. Peter’s Choir -- Ding Dong Merrily On High
(I hope I have fixed the formatting problem with the links now.)
