What do you know, I still have nothing to say.

I stick around Tumblr for a couple people I'd probably lose touch with otherwise, but the format is just not for me. The fandom portion just tends to make me angry, and I'm always too rambly for text posts. I feel like my entire existence is tl;dr for Tumblr users.

Let's face it, I am old in fannish terms and the LJ/DW format is more my speed, even if people aren't using it that much anymore. That's okay; the important people are still here. Mostly. Except those ones who are forcing me to keep my Tumblr blog. "Blog." It feels weird even calling it that. Is it a blog if no one ever *says* anything?

Aaaaand I probably didn't get enough sleep last night. I'm on day six of my nine-day work week and going a little crazy. Saturdays are kind of ridiculous because I drag myself in here at 8:00 and don't actually have to be on a public desk until noon. But I need the hours, so here I am, in my office, wasting time instead of getting any work done.

It's snowing already, so they might send me home early (I was hoping the snow would hold off until later in the day because again, I need the hours) and I'm supposed to babysit tonight, but I suppose that will depend on the weather conditions later. I don't mind snow at all, I just mind trying to get home when they don't treat the secondary roads and everyone in this town lives at the top or bottom of a large hill. It's just not smart planning on the county's part. Not that they care.

What am I even talking about? I came here to post a To Do list for myself for the next four days.

+ work
+ clean house
+ work
+ grocery shopping
+ throw together a denim skirt for my trip
+ work some more
+ brat patrol
+ take some cardboard and plastic to the recycling center
+ pack
+ laundry
+ dye my hair
+ cut my bangs
+ get cash
+ grocery store (sinus rinse)
+ gas
+ plants

At least I have accomplished one thing so far. Sad how much time I've wasted this week. That's kind of the story of my life, though, so I don't think anyone's surprised that instead of being organized and getting stuff done after work all week long, I have been watching the entire run of American Horror Story: Asylum instead.

There's an opening for a librarian at Yale. Should I apply for another job that won't call me? I'm used to rejection so that's no problem. The real issue is that eventually someone *is* going to hire me, maybe, and if I move anywhere in New England besides Boston, I'm going to have to keep my car.

I feel like my entire existence is tl;dr for Tumblr users.

Hahahahahaha, yes, this is the perfect summary of why I have no Tumblr, and only go there to read a handful of fandom people who mostly are posting fic. (Also it sums up my feelings on Twitter pretty well, too.) If your life and relevance to fandom can't be summarised in an image and a dozen tags, you're too longwinded for Tumblr.

Best of luck handling the snow, though, and I hope it doesn't steal too many hours from you!

(I say apply for the job, just in case! Because Yale. But what do I know, I've never even been there.)

The fandom portion just tends to make me angry

This is the #2 reason I quit. I realized that I was getting angry a lot more and it was because I kept finding terrible things wrt fandom via Tumblr. I think cutting it out was one good way to cut down on my irrational anger levels. But I feel much the same. I don't see it as a blogging platform; it's not conducive to the kind of blogging I like to do. And people skip text posts anyway so why bother with them there? That's what DW is for for me.

And yeah I'd say just apply for everything you can unless you know for sure that you don't actually want that job. If there's even a possibility you might, apply and figure out pros and cons if you actually get offered it.

Yes this exactly! I just had to back away; it was for the best. Maybe I can dip in every once in a while without getting fully immersed.

Yessss do it! :D My brother currently works in NJ and he lives in the same house (in the apartment you stayed in when you were here, actually! We've since moved to the back one, same floor) and he handles his commute with nary a complaint. Though I believe he drives since the nature of his job (Program Director for Girl Scouts) often requires he bring a lot a shit with him for them to do stuff.

Ohh yeah that is a bit of a catch. But yes you're right!

Yeah. I just. I agree with everything you just said.

You should definitely apply for everything! You never know, even if you have to work around keeping your car.
