most boring post ever y/y

I am attempting to be better about keeping up with my 'reading list' or whatever on Dreamwidth, and I figured one thing that might help is if I actually start using my DW journal. So I'm going to crosspost, but you can comment at either place, should you care to comment. Mainly I just want to keep up with egret. Because I'm a creepy stalker, that's why!

Here's a work-related tidbit for you: You know I run the interlibrary loan department now, which, if you've never used ILL before, is the department at your library which borrows books from other library systems when your library doesn't have what you're looking for. So I borrowed a VHS tape of an oooooold kids' movie on a whim, and yesterday when I finally sat down to watch it, my ancient VCR eated it.

Awesome! I have no idea yet how much it's going to cost me. The movie's been out of print for awhile, so it could go one of two ways. They will either tell me they're not replacing VHS anyway and I should just forget it, or they'll charge me a lot of money for damaging their stuff. Which they are perfectly within their rights to do, and I will have to pay it, even though nobody's really at fault here.

And I didn't even get to watch the movie, because the VCR chomped it right up as soon as I pressed play.

So that was my Saturday. Today I'm at work, lucky me, and later I have to work out, then go grocery shopping, because there is nothing to eat at my house. If only I could give up food altogether, my life would be so much easier.

Me too! That's the chance you take, unfortunately. But most libraries aren't replacing VHS (mostly you can't even if you want to, since they don't make it anymore) so fingers crossed. Their ILL person is out of the office next week, according to the autoreply I got to my e-mail, so I will have to wait awhile to find out what they want to do.

You were one of my last reasons to read LJ, to be honest.
In an almost-synchronicity, I am this week tossing out (almost) all my old VHS tapes because I don't watch them. (I kept 2 that I am kind of writing a crossover fic about for the last 5 years and also some home movies on vhs, but otherwise they are gone.)

I just tossed the last of my VHS tapes a couple weeks ago while cleaning out the house before I put it on the market. Now I guess I have to toss my VCR too. Ah, well, it's not really a loss. I do feel bad about the other library's tape, though. It was in really good condition and everything.
