Musical Advent Calendar: Day Nineteen
Dec. 19th, 2012 06:51 amDo you know what I realized the other day? This is not, in fact, the 7th annual musical advent calendar. It's actually the eighth. That's right, according my iTunes I started this in 2005. I thought it was 2006! Go figure.
On to today's artist, Joe McElderry. Who, you ask? IIRC he's the chap who won X Factor the year One Direction appeared as also-rans. Just goes to show. But he's got a lovely voice, and he produced a Christmas album, so here are a few tracks:
I Believe In Father Christmas
Adeste Fideles
Last Christmas
Since Mr. McElderry is both British and openly gay, I like to think that he recorded "Last Christmas" as an homage to the great George Michael. My mother's opinion, upon hearing the song, was, "This is dumb." Thanks for the insight, Mom.
She says it doesn't really make any sense. She's not wrong! But it's a fun song anyway, and I know a lot of people here love it. (I'm always going to be partial to the Jimmy Eat World version, of course, but there's room for everyone on my iTunes.)
I...might be a little sleep-deprived. Or over-stressed. Possibly both.
