New York City! (What else is there?)

SO. EXCITED. 'The Fansies'. Oh, Jess, you ridiculous creature. To me you will always be Puck and Kurt's Broadway lovechild. IJS. (Also, I love how excited they get about the fire escape. And I love Evan. And Alex Freaking Wong. And basically everything this video chooses to be.)

In marginally related news, we get Dance Magazine here at the library, and Mark from SYTYCD is on the cover of last month's issue. There's an article talking about how participating in the show has brought him mixed success (though he appears to be doing well, which is great, because he's so talented. You non-SYTYCD fans saw him in the background of the Brittany numbers during the Brittany episode of Glee.) Anyway, in light of that, it's nice to see four SYTYCD alums having success in Newsies.

In less than six weeks I will be hitting the road to meet up with jengeorge and wonderlandchick, and then we will be embarking on a fabulous weekend in NYC. I can't wait to see NEWSIES ON BROADWAY, BITCHES and also to see yabamena and mysticshell! And possibly egret? Egret, I know you're not going to the show with us, but if you were free on Saturday, May 12th and wanted to meet us for dinner, I personally would love to see you.

Speaking of dinner, do any of you local ladies have restaurant suggestions? I have a few well-rated (according to Yelp, anyway) places in mind in Hell's Kitchen, but the three of us tourists are down with traveling to meet wherever if you don't want to dine right in Tourist Central (and who could blame you, really.)

Also on the agenda is a drag brunch at Lips NYC. We're going on Sunday the 14th, which is Mother's Day, so I realize a lot of people are booked that day, but anyone local who wants to join us for that should let me know. Though you need to let me know in the next couple days, because I need to start making reservations for stuff.

We will be in the city from Friday at dinnertime through Monday morning, so if you are dying to see any of us in person and you can make it into the city, let me know. I have pretty much planned our agenda for every minute of the trip, but we can still fit you in! Sunday afternoon we're mostly going to be drinking anyway. What? That's what everybody does with their Sunday afternoons, isn't it?

Guys I am super excited. Have I mentioned how I'm very, very excited?

We love food! Jennie requests that they serve wine. I told her, "It's New York, EVERYBODY serves wine!"

So to answer your question, no, we are pretty open, and we all have fairly adventurous palettes. You chose exceedingly well for my birthday dinner last time, so I trust you completely. (And I will never find such delicious pepper beef again, I'm convinced of it.)

I have NO idea what the place was called. Let me see if I put it in my LJ anywhere. It was a Thai place in the east village, IIRC, but first we went to the delivery location in the west village and it was a great comedy of errors. By the time we got there I was so hungry my shoe might have been delicious, so it's possible I'm giving it too much credit, but the food really was good.

Found it! It was Rhong-Tiam, according to my post-trip LJ post. If we go there again I already know what I'm ordering.

People on Yelp have said good things about Bali Nusa Indah, which is an Indonesian place in Hell's Kitchen.

We are staying right near Junior's (also close to the theater) if you guys are interested in wine and cheesecake after the show. We are also going to try to hit Trader Joe's wine store, so alternatively we could go back to our hotel for wine after the show, if you like, though it's just a room, no fancy balcony or view of Times Square or anything. We're staying right next to Bryant Park, basically.

I have given it up until such time as I go on vacation, but I am looking forward to drinking my share of it once I get to the city.

Oh, I remember now! How could I forget that terrible punny name? That's waaay downtown, though, nowhere near where we'd be. Indonesian, huh? I'll take a gander at their menu.

Y'know, I've never actually been to Junior's. I'm not a huge cheesecake fan, but I'd give it a try to see what all the fuss is about. And I'm pretty sure wine is happening one way or another, so I'm good on all those options. XD

I'm not much of a cheesecake fan either, as a general rule, but I'm willing to take one for the team. They have a full bar, which is the important thing. It looks like the Rhong-Tiam we ate at is closed. They have a location down by Union Square now, but I can't tell much about it from their website.

Well, the full bar is definitely incentive enough for me. What is with places not having any information online? I checked out the Bali Nusa Indah place, but aside from reviews, all I found was their menu online, which didn't have any kind of description of what anything was.

Their website is pretty worthless, now that you mention it. That's why I rely on Yelp so much; people are generally more informative in their reviews than the restaurant's websites are. Plus they often post pictures of the food. Food porn while I'm on a (very strict) diet! It's pathetic, really.

I tend to go to review sites only if I can't find a decent website for the place I'm looking for. Which I suppose is kind of dangerous if it's someplace I've never been before. Oops?

Food porn is always good. Though I suppose it's more like torture when on a diet. >.o
