Hello Trick or Treat Writer! I am so happy this exchange is running again. I listed some of the things I love best about my requested fandoms in my sign-up, but if you want to know more, you have come to the right place.

First things first: I am pretty easy to please. I like light and fluffy fic just as much as dark and spooky stories. I am not terribly squeamish, I have seen a LOT of horror movies, and any rating at all is fine.

Things I love: ghosts, haunted houses, 'found footage', possession (both demonic and the jealousy kink varieties), sex pollen, friends to lovers, porn, holiday-centric fic, soulbonding, worldbuilding, huddling for warmth, trapped together, AUs, crossovers.

Things I don't love: Incest, BDSM, a/b/o, animal harm, the 'always a boy/girl' branch of genderswap ('woke up in the wrong body' is totally cool, however, and if you want to throw in some body horror that would be fine). Other than that pretty much anything goes.

Things I love in art: Honestly I am open to everything, because I can't Art and therefore all fan art impresses me. I've been blessed with illustrations of some of my fics over the years, which has been really fun, and I cherish all of them. There's no art that I know of for any of the fandoms I've requested, so the world is your oyster.

I am also carolinecrane on AO3, LJ, and tumblr.

Clearly I am a shipper at heart, but if you didn't sign up to write shipfic, don't panic! I love all the characters I've requested and will be happy to read about any of them doing whatever you feel like writing. Please take all my prompts as suggestions only. If you have an idea you want to run with, go for it. As long as it's not on my DNW list, I will probably really love it.

My Bodyguard

Requested Characters: Ricky Linderman, Clifford Peache

Ugh, this movie. I love it so much. I was eight years old when it was released, and tiny!me sat in my grandparents' bedroom watching it on their pirated HBO, basking in the glow of Ricky and Clifford's perfect love even though I had no idea that was the sort of thing that could happen. The tone of the movie captures the 80s so perfectly, and while it's lighthearted and joyful in a lot of places, it's also pretty melancholy. Ricky's tragic past, obviously, but also his home life and the whole business with Moody.

Tricks: If you want to explore Ricky's life, that would be cool. Or, if you want to keep it lighthearted, what if the power goes out in the hotel? That would be pretty spooky. Or maybe they have some kind of Halloween party at the hotel. Or send Ricky and Clifford out into NYC for a night of Halloween mischief. I ship them, so you are more than welcome to ship them too. But I love their friendship so that's also more than fine. Or if you only want to write about one of them, that's okay too. A ghost story in the hotel would also be more than welcome.

Treats: Literally anything family-centric will make me super happy. Clifford hanging out with his dad and grandma, or Ricky and Clifford hanging out at the hotel, or out and about in NYC, or with their friends. Or alone maybe fumbling through some awkward makeouts. Or panicking about the future of their friendship while Clifford thinks about going to college and Ricky doesn't. Honestly I just want Ricky to have as much light in his life as he can get, and that's what Clifford gives him. So if you want to write about them together, I am never going to complain. But if you want to write about them on their own, bring it. Clifford away at college trying to adjust to a whole new life! Ricky working on his bike at the garage. Struggling through boring homework assignments. Future fic in which they're middle-aged and still living in the city. Whatever.

Art: I'm not sure if I'm any use at prompting for art, but I'm going to give it a try. In a perfect world I would LOVE shippy art for this fandom, even if it's just them holding hands or something equally innocent. Any moment you want to illustrate from the film itself would also be amazing, or if you want to focus on the city itself, I am a sucker for New York in winter.

The entire movie is available on youtube.

Big Eden

Requested Characters: Pike Dexter, Henry Hart

This is another one of those fandoms that I have trouble separating from my ship, though if you're interested in writing it, chances are good that you ship Pike and Henry just as hard as I do. I love the way they fumble toward one another, neither of them thinking they deserve to find 'happily ever after', and then discovering that it was there waiting for them all along. Honestly as long as you don't break them up, I will love anything featuring either or both of them.

Tricks: There's a deleted scene on the DVD that shows Henry and Dean taking Dean's kids trick-or-treating. Another Halloween celebration in Big Eden, maybe drawing Pike into the festivities this time? I'm positive he's avoided them in the past and hides in the store not handing out candy. Having Henry in his life would change that. If you'd rather write something that's not seasonal, maybe Henry gets trapped in NYC due to Reasons and Pike worries the whole time? Surely there are plenty of spooky campfire stories told in Big Eden. Was there a senior trip where they all camped out and Pike lurked in the shadows while the other kids told ghost stories?

Treats: Literally anything about them being happy would make me happy. Honestly if you want to write recipe fic where Pike cooks dinner, I will eat it up with a spoon, if you'll pardon the pun. I am happy to read anything at all about both or either of them growing into their new lives together.

Art: Pike and Henry sitting on the porch watching the lake, or Pike being all domestic in the kitchen, or even just an artist's rendering of Pike's gorgeous smile. Or if you really want a challenge, you could create some of Henry's art if you like. Or a portrait of Francis! Anything goes.

Veritas: The Quest

Requested Characters: Calvin Banks, Nikko Zond

My favorite ship in this canon is Calvin/Nikko, but I would have to be blind not to see Vincent/Solomon. 'Our boy.' I mean, come on.

This show. Ugh. So many questions left unanswered! Nikko's superpowers are just the tip of the iceberg. (At one point I had a whole Heroes fusion idea but for the life of me I can't remember anything about it now. I must have blocked it out when Heroes got so bad. And now they're rebooting it.) I digress. My point is that there were a lot of questions that went unanswered, and there was a lot of playing fast-and-loose with religious mythology. If you want to tackle any of that, please feel free. If you'd rather write 300 words of Nikko and Calvin arguing with each other, I will happily read it.

Tricks: Veritas gets itself in so many sketchy situations, there are a million things you could do. Maybe they wake up an evil spirit while digging around an abandoned temple somewhere in the jungle. Maybe they find a cursed object and someone gets possessed. Maybe they disturb the wrong tomb and a ghost decides to follow them home and torment them. Power outage at headquarters! Dorna shenanigans!

Treats: One of the best things about this show was the found family vibe. Maggie was sorely underused, but it was clear that she and Solomon had a long and important friendship. (Also Vincent so wanted to be Nikko's stepdad.) I love the little moments we get of the team showing how much they care about each other, whether it's because someone's hurt or when they have a little downtime. They're busy trying to save the world, but do they ever take a break for holidays? How do they celebrate? Send Nikko out to a costume party in NYC and rope Calvin into going along as his handler. Whatever. (Snippy banter and makeouts would also not go amiss.)

Redshirts

Requested Characters: Andy Dahl, Jimmy Hanson

Look, there is far too little fic in this fandom, considering how completely fandom-friendly this book is. Also the way Scalzi wrote Jimmy and Andrew's friendship is just begging for slash. Fandom, you let me down. I have a lot of questions about those two, particularly given the end of the book. Andy seems to take Jimmy for granted, and that has to hurt, considering Jimmy's issues with trusting people. I would love to know more about that, or really anything about them.

Tricks: Away missions are safe for the Redshirts now, right? Except there are still weird creatures out there, and there's no reason they shouldn't run into some alien who wants to do them harm. Or, if you want to take the end of the book further, is Jimmy really just there to prop up Andy's story? What happens if Jimmy's just gone one day? How would Andy react to that? Would he try to find him, or just assume Jimmy really was just a part of Andy's narrative? What if they're soulbonded, and Andy doesn't figure it out until Jimmy's gone? Alien sex pollen!

Treats: Tell me about how Jimmy and Andy first met. Any pre-canon shenanigans would be fun. What was the Academy like? What did the text Jimmy sent Andy at the beginning of the book say? Or porn. Porn is good.

Art: Since this is a book, the possibilities are endless. You can illustrate any moment from the book that you feel like. The opening scene might be fun. Or if you want to draw something dark, feel free to make up a new creature or alien. Or show me what you think Andy and/or Jimmy look like.

Halloweentown

I am not even going to list characters here because I would love to read about literally anyone in the entire canon. (Yes, I even like the fourth movie.) Any story you want to tell, I am all ears. Eyes. Whatever. I ship Marnie/Luke and Dylan/Ethan, but neither of those are dealbreakers for me. If you want to go in a different direction, please do.

Tricks: If you want to tell a scary story, you've come to the right place. Is there a ghost stuck in some creaky old mansion in the human world who can't figure out how to get back to Halloweentown? Does Marnie have to save them? Tell me about any of the creepy creatures that live in Halloweentown. The movies are geared to kids, but there must be a more sinister side to Halloweentown. Kalabar started there, after all.

Treats: Obviously this canon is perfect for any Halloween-themed story you want to tell. Make up a monster and send it to the human world on Halloween! What do they get up to? Are they only interested in stopping by the grocery store to get the toothpaste they can't get in Halloweentown? Or do they spend their time terrorizing (or trying to terrorize) trick-or-treaters, just for fun? Or tell me about Halloweentown! I'm so curious about how things work there.

Art: This fandom is pretty ideal for art, I think. Marnie being the great Cromwell witch she's destined to be, or Luke doing whatever it is he does, or any creature from Halloweentown you think would be fun to illustrate. It's such an interesting world and there's so much to explore, I'd love to see what you come up with.

Above all, have fun! Whatever you come up with will be wonderful. I love fic and art equally, so go nuts. I promise it will be greatly appreciated.
