In case anyone wanders through here looking for Those Old Streetscapes, you can find the latest chapter at AO3. I'm afraid that's the best I can do until such time as LJ is working again.

I try not to be a fatalist about these things, but I fear this may be the beginning of the end of fandom on LJ. Not that many people have migrated to DW, however, and it's so *lonely* over here. I miss my people, especially this week when work has been super-stressful.

This whole mess does make me really grateful I never bothered with a permanent LJ account, however. And I wouldn't even mind moving to DW if it wasn't for the icons. And I'd miss LJ's scrapbook a lot. And, you know the people.

I do have some DW codes, I think, if anyone's in need.

I feel and hear ya. I'm wondering with the many attacks on LJ, how will they impact US side. Will ppl move here to DW? Fandom has changed much over the years. We are all over the place at FB, Tumblr, Twitter, Blog, etc.

I miss the old days.

It's weird but between the AO3 and DW, it's LJ that's been the ghost town for me, even before this down time. I mean, I keep seeing people posting things similar to what you're saying here but it hasn't been my experience.

It would be good if more people from LJ came over here. We'll have to hope that'll happen.

The thought of LJ ending makes me sad. I finally figured some of that site out! Though two major blips in the past few months actually makes me nervous. Time will tell, I suppose.

Is dreamwidth worth creating acount for? A good site to use? From this page looks alot like LJ. What are the major differences?

OpenID works fine over here, but DW is pretty much the same as LJ. Well, old LJ. It's built on the same code, so it's just a stripped-down, fandom-friendly version. It's run by the people who run AO3, I think? I could be wrong about that. Anyway, you get less icons over here, which is a problem for me, but it's better than nothing.

LJ is going to continue to have political problems, seeing as it's Russian-owned now and all, and while I am all for standing up for free speech, if it means no access to fannish things, fandom will have to find somewhere else to live. This is probably the likeliest choice, though I imagine older fen will migrate here and the younger ones will take to Tumblr. And then I will just retire from fandom because I am too old and don't understand Tumblr, and all my problems will be solved.
